After consuming a large number of delicious apples, Caterpie realized it was time to evolve! However, eating that much fruit so quickly resulted in some quite uncomfortable results....

Less of an evolutionary line than the meeting of different species. When this particular Ivysaur evolves, I like to think he'll end up with an enormous saguaro on his back. Other things that should grow out a 'saur's back: coconut palm, pineapple, orchids, venus fly traps. Awkward mash of styles and colors, sorry, but I'm excited to get on to the lizards!

Blastoise has the face of a baby and a cat put together. Seriously, look at him. Maybe add in a hint of hippo and there you go, Blastoise. The moral of this? It's badass, it's awesome, but it's not cute. At all. O.O I went through a lot of different drafts of Blastoise, none of them seeming quite right. But, in the end, two images emerged, and I just had to do them both!

So here, of course, is Blastoise getting ready to hydro pump you straight in the face. Look at that little tongue, is he mocking you!?

Here's Wartortle, my favorite of the Squirtle line. Something about his tail and those ears, I dunno, I like it. :)

Since I'm going to be busy for the next day or two (boyfriend aggro, you all know how that is) I really want to get Blastoise done tonight as well. However, since I have a few matters to take care of, (some other pending art, laundry, should probably feed my pet salamanders...) I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish him before tomorrow. We'll see!

The Squirtle line has always been my least favorite out of the original starters, I'm not really sure why. (I'm more of a fire gal, what can I say?) However, when looking up ref pictures, it dawned on me that Squirtle really is completely adorable.
